Sigmund Burzynski BA, Grad Dip Couns, Dip Clin Hyp, MAPS

Sigmund Burzynski is in private psychological practice in Geelong, Victoria. As Senior Psychologist at Associated Psychology Services he has an extensive clinical background having served as resident psychologist at a maximum security prison for six years. During that time there was a heavy emphasis in his training dealing with trauma, violence, anger, drug related issues and personality disorders. He was actively involved in developing a group program with emphasis on anger management named the ‘Alternatives to Violence Program’. The program was given a National Award. He has been in private practice since 1994. His current interests lie in the area of trauma management, depression, anxiety disorders, anger management, pain management and sexual dysfunction.

He undertook his Part 1 training with Francine Shapiro in Sydney in 1992. He subsequently completed his Part 2 training with her in 1993 again in Sydney. He then trained extensively as an EMDR facilitator with Australia’s first EMDR Institute trainer Mr Gary Fulcher. In 1998 he was chosen with other Australian facilitators to undertake further training with Franchine and become EMDR Institute trainers in Australia. Since that time he has been actively involved in trainings throughout Australia including training in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Hobart.

He has also been invited to Hong Kong, Singapore, and New Zealand where he has provided EMDR basic training (currently named Weekend 1 and 2 training). He has provided public lectures on Anger Management in Singapore and presented a case study on Trauma based anger at the inaugural EMDR Asia conference in Bali.

He is also extensively involved in the supervision and training of Psychologists and has lectured on EMDR at the University of Indonesia and Tarumanagora University, Indonesia. He provides supervision and training to psychologists nationally and internationally.
